We Don't Need a New Middle School.
They WANT a New Middle School.

Can it be really true that our district administrators can't
give us a 5 year financial forecast?
Or is it that the district doesn't want us to know how large the impact will be?
Our tax estimates are based on historical tax increase averages of 3.3% annually for general operations of our school district with the addition of a new middle school from UPSD new construction information.
Below are examples of UP tax increases if the construction
of a new middle school is added to our normal increases over
the next 4 years and will continue for over 20 years

Home Assessed Value of $100,000 -- $918.33 per year by 2020
Home Assessed Value of $200,000 -- $1,836.66 per year by 2020
Home Assessed Value of $300,000 -- $2,754.99 per year by 2020
If the UP School District builds a New Middle School,
Upper Perk Property Taxes will Skyrocket!
For further details on UP finances and how they work
See 'General Operations Budget' page.
The district can't spend all their money on a new building.
They still have to run the general operations of the district.
See 'ACT 1 Loophole' page.
6 out of the last 8 years our district was granted an
exception to raise our taxes over the ACT 1 Index.

See 'The 2017 Predicament' page
The reason the district announced they will not raise
our taxes above 3% this year is because they
missed the deadline to apply for an ACT 1 exception.
